I also
post URLwire site announcements on URLwire's private announcement groups
at Google
groups and MSN spaces/communities.
I do
this for several strategic reasons that are beneficial for the sites I
announce. First, naturally it speeds indexing of your announcement
by Google's search engine and MSN's search engine when you are using their
services (clever, huh?). Second, many folks are already members of
other groups at Google/MSN, and this makes their process of subscribing
to URLwire that much easier.
Third,
some folks simply prefer this option.
Lastly,
by publishing your site announcement this way it creates a new link to
your site from the Google and MSN domains. New links are always nice...
