.
Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports magazine, has launched a public education campaign and free website—www.CRBestBuyDrugs.org—that will help consumers save money on medicines. Prescription drugs can be expensive, even if you have insurance coverage. But there are medicines that can effectively meet your medical needs and give you better value for your health care dollar.

Consumer Reports Best Buy Drugs is a free public education service from the nonprofit Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports. Millions of Americans trust Consumer Reports to provide expert, independent information about products and services, and to help them save money.

The information on the website can help you learn about more affordable drug treatment options to discuss with your physician. Consumers Union works with respected doctors and pharmacists to compare drugs and point you to those that are proven to work based on current scientific evidence. In concise, easy-to-read reports, they tell you what you need to know about the effectiveness, safety and cost of many widely used prescription drugs.

Consumers Union accepts no outside advertising and no free test samples. It has no agenda other than to promote and protect the interests of consumers. Consumers Union’s revenue comes from the sale of information products and services, individual contributions, and a few educational grants.

Consumer Reports Best Buy Drugs is funded largely from such grants. Consumers Union is governed by a board of 18 directors who are elected by CU members and meet three times a year.
