| "The email overload situation is
reaching very critical levels and costing businesses real dollars in lost
productivity among employees," Boettiger says. "There's not one person
that I know of who isn't feeling information overload from email right
now." |

An average of over 36 billion person-to-person
emails will be sent daily by the year 2005 (Source: IDC). The average business
user now spends an average of over two hours a day just dealing with email.
A web site based in Portland, Oregon
offers help to business and consumer email users who find they are spending
more and more time processing an exponentially increasing amount of email.
The site is located at http://www.email911.com/
, and offers useful articles, extensive support resources and free publications
to help users manage email more efficiently and effectively.
An entire section of the site is
devoted specifically to spam, offering email users relief via filtering
techniques, tips, tricks and tools.
Email911.com
founder Adam Boettiger speaks from experience. Boettiger manages
well over 1,000 email messages per day between business and personal email
and shares his personal techniques and resources with readers. Boettiger
estimates that a mid-level manager being paid $70,000 per year forced to
waste just one hour per day dealing with an overabundance of email and
spam is costing the organization $8,750 per year in salary alone. If that
person can reduce the amount of time spent on email by just one hour a
day, it's a payback of $8,750 a year to the organization.
"The email overload situation is
reaching very critical levels and costing businesses real dollars in lost
productivity among employees," Boettiger says. "There's not one person
that I know of who isn't feeling information overload from email right
now."
In addition to running Email911.com,
Boettiger offers corporate Email management consulting, and employee Email
management seminars. He can be reached at adam.boettiger@email911.com
