MyRatePlan.com Launches Consumer Toolbox for Evaluation of Long Distance Calling Plans

The Long Distance Center is the latest addition to MyRatePlan's site, which launched in October, 1999, and houses the most sophisticated software for evaluating wireless plans available online.  The site also contains MyWirelessManagerSM, a unique set of tools that will automatically notify consumers when their contract is about to expire, or a better priced plan comes along. http://www.myrateplan.com

MyRatePlan.com cuts through the clutter with the launch of its Long Distance Center.  Each consumer has his or her unique calling needs, and a simple click to MyRatePlan.com will help separate the good choices from the expensive ones..
Paul Reiser claims it is 7 cents a minute, but neglects to tell the kid in the candy store that there is a $5.95 monthly fee.  Doug Flutie says it is 99 cents for 20 minutes but, oh yeah, it's also 99 cents for one minute.  It's long distance, and never has something that should be so simple ever been made so confusing.

MyRatePlan.com cuts through the clutter with the launch of its Long Distance Center.  Each consumer has his or her unique calling needs, and a simple click to MyRatePlan.com will help separate the good choices from the expensive ones.

The Long Distance Center is divided into 4 sections, each of which addresses a distinct segment of the pricing and marketing of long distance:

Those 10-10 Numbers:  An interesting marketing concept that lets you, for example, "dial-around" your home 7 cent MCI plan and pay 16 cents a minute with 10-10-321, which just happens to also be owned by MCI.  Makes you wonder...  However, there are times where dialing 10-10 is a good value, and this section will show you when that is by choosing the cheapest option for your call, and comparing it to what you would pay if you used your home calling plan.

Fees:  When you pay $5.95 a month to get a 7 cents a minute rate, you never actually average 7 cents.  In fact, someone using 100 minutes a month on a calling plan like this is actually averaging almost 13 cents a minute.  We'll show you what you are really paying with these plans.

Monthly Plans:  Most carriers offer a variety of choices.  This section factors in monthly fees and different time-of-day rates to help locate the best plan for your exact calling patterns.

Time-A-Call:  This unique feature provides an on-screen stopwatch, letting you actually time a call while it is being made, and then immediately evaluate whether the service selected for the call offered the best available price.

"We believe the tools in our Long Distance Center are among the most comprehensive available online, and nicely complement our unbiased coverage of other service industries", said Allan Keiter, founder and president of MyRatePlan.com.  "Our goal is to be a trusted resource for consumers as they consider the many options in front of them, and to guide them to finding the best price and provider for the exact amount of service they need."
