With the first-round matchups having been announced on Selection Sunday, players and fans alike are gearing up for the most exciting tournament in sports: March Madness. As the 65 NCAA College Basketball teams are practicing their plays and attempting to get inside the heads of opponents, fans everywhere are pouring over stats and preparing to fill out their March Madness brackets. Office-pool participants are after the glory, but tournament fans know that big-money bracket contests are where the real excitement is.

For those looking for a little more action this year, BetUS.com has just launched the mother of all March Madness brackets: a $1,000,000 March Madness Bracket Contest - That's right, one million dollars, and it's free to enter!

How does it work? Contestants simply predict the outcome of the tournament, one round at a time, until the bracket is full and the champion is predicted. Those who aren't confident in their NCAA Basketball instinct (or just need to brush up on the teams) are advised to take a look at BetUS Sportsbook's odds for each of the games - oddsmakers are smart and more times than not they're correct. There will always be upsets in the tournament and a good rule of thumb is that games featuring teams favored by ten points or less (middle-seeded) are much more likely to be upset than those favored by 25 or more.

Here are a few more facts and stats on March Madness history:

  • Since the NCAA started seeding teams in 1979, only once have all four # 1 seeds made it to the National Semifinals (Final Four); this was in 2008 when Kansas, North Carolina, Memphis, and UCLA made the cut.
  • At least one # 1 seed has made the Final Four in every year except 1980 and 2006.
  • A # 16 seed has never beaten a # 1 seed since the field was expanded to 64 teams (now 65).
  • When it comes to the # 15 seed, teams have had very little success as well. Only 4 teams have been able to knock off the # 2 seed in the first round of the tournament.
Once fans have done their bracket research (or flipped a few coins) they can sign up at BetUS.com and start making their picks. A perfect "nothing but net" bracket will win the $1,000,000. Picks must be received before noon on March 19th, but there will also be $10,000 Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight contests for those who miss the deadline, plus a bonus 50-inch plasma television, casino chips, and other great prizes.

Join BetUS.com and take a million-dollar-shot today!
