Hyatt.com Presents New Global Interactive Travel Experience

Travelers can find travel deals at new site, plus Hyatt and United Airlines Mileage Plus will give away a trip around the world to celebrate site's launch

Hyatt Hotels Corporation today is introducing a new site that offers Hot Deals, delivers ease in booking reservations and creates a vivid armchair travel experience on a global scale.

While the Web site will take travelers around the world through their computers, Hyatt and United Airlines Mileage Plus are offering a chance to do it for real. Starting today, to celebrate the site's launch, any legal resident of the U.S. or Canada (excluding Quebec) who is present in the U.S. or Canada (excluding Quebec) and is 18 years of age or older can enter in a drawing to win a trip for two around the world with stopovers in New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, New Delhi and London. To enter, simply visit http://www.hyatt.com and complete the on-line sweepstakes entry form by June 30, 1998 (see http://www.hyatt.com on the Internet for official sweepstakes rules; see below for instructions on entering by mail).

Among the key features of hyatt.com: At Hot Deals, travelers can check for a variety of special offers and promotions available at Hyatt hotels and resorts around the world. The Special Offers Finder allows travelers to check for deals by searching by destination keyword. In addition, travelers can subscribe to the Hyatt Extras e-mail newsletter.

Periodically, starting this spring, subscribers will receive the electronic newsletter, which will detail Hyatt news, special offers and promotions, some of which will be announced exclusively in the newsletter. Travelers are only two clicks away from booking a reservation at any Hyatt around the world when they log onto the hyatt.com homepage and enter a destination name or keyword.

Hyatt provides real-time access to rates, availability and on-line reservations for all Hyatt properties worldwide. Data on rates and availability comes directly from Hyatt's central reservation system, so on-line travelers know they are getting the latest information. Through the on-line Worldwide Guide, travelers can experience any Hyatt hotel and resort anywhere in the world through high resolution photography more vivid than ever before. For select properties, travelers can take a virtual tour featuring 360-degree panoramic images.

Information on accommodations and amenities is offered, along with general information about the destination. In the Hyatt Resorts section, travelers can use the Resort Finder to select the features they want in a resort destination, such as golf, skiing, water activities and the like, and hyatt.com will return a list of Hyatt resorts that meet their needs. Information on Camp Hyatt, Golf Hyatt, Cruise Hyatt and Hyatt Vacations is also available, along with a list of resort promotions and specials.

In the Contact Hyatt pages, travelers can ask the on-line concierge questions about Hyatt and the concierge will respond via e-mail or re-direct inquiries to Hyatt's many hotels. In the @Hyatt area, those visiting the site can learn about Park Hyatt hotels (Hyatt's smaller, luxury, European-style hotels designed to cater to the discriminating individual traveler), Hyatt's world of services, travel partners, career opportunities at Hyatt, the Hyatt Vacation Club (vacation ownership resorts) and Classic Residence by Hyatt. In addition, in the new Press Room, journalists and travelers alike can check the latest press releases issued by Hyatt, including news of new hotels and travel partners.

Hyatt created this new site in part because of the rising demand for Internet travel services. According to a report recently released by the Travel Industry Association of America, 28 percent of American travelers used on-line services to make travel plans or reservations in 1997, up from 11 percent in the previous year.

"We designed the new hyatt.com to set the new standard for hotel web sites for content, speed and usefulness", said Thomas F. O'Toole, vice president, marketing, Hyatt Hotels Corporation. "The new hyatt.com delivers rich images, extensive information and easy reservations booking for all of the Hyatt hotels and resorts around the world, in a graphically elegant manner," he added.

From http://www.hyatt.com, travelers are also able to enroll in Gold Passport , Hyatt's worldwide frequent guest program. Gold Passport members can check their point balances on line. There are special resources available for travel agents, including helpful information for booking Hyatt rooms, as well as general information and procedures regarding Hyatt hotels and resorts. And professional meeting planners will find Hyatt's Facilities Guide on line, which includes meeting facility floor plans, capacity figures, and information on services and amenities at all hotels in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean, and most Hyatt International hotels.

There are 179 Hyatt hotels and resorts around the world. Hyatt Hotels Corporation operates 107 hotels and resorts in the U. S., Canada and the Caribbean. Hyatt International, through its subsidiaries, operates 72 hotels and resorts in 34 countries. In the United States, Hyatt Worldwide Reservations for individuals and groups can be reached at 800-233-1234. Outside the United States, contact the local Hyatt sales office or representative. For more information about Hyatt hotels and resorts, consult Hyatt through the Internet at http://www.hyatt.com.
