Rapsheets.com Criminal Records Database Adds Pay-Per-Record Feature
Rapsheets.com provides instant criminal records searches over its Web site to users who agree to abide by provisions of the Fair Credit Reporting Act – an alternative to more expensive, time- consuming courthouse searches that have long been the only means for checking a person’s criminal record.

“We have had more and more requests from businesses that need to check criminal records only a couple of times per month,” explained Peter Schutt, president of Rapsheets.com. “So we added the new ‘non-members’ area so that users would not have to worry about justifying an ongoing, monthly expense.

“For just a couple of dollars more per search, non-members can tap the power of Rapsheets.com with no monthly fee.”

Infrequent users simply follow the “Non-Member” link on the home page, then register with contact information and a valid credit card number, and assign their own password. The site’s secure server then verifies the credit card, and the user is ready to search the tens of millions of records housed in Rapsheets.com’s database.

Rapsheets.com provides instant criminal records searches over its Web site to users who agree to abide by provisions of the Fair Credit Reporting Act – an alternative to more expensive, time-consuming courthouse searches that have long been the only means for checking a person’s criminal record. Qualified users can search from more than 50 million records from 32 states and numerous major metropolitan areas of the country. Rapsheets.com’s databases contain public records from courts and prison systems, generally dating to 1990. The company updates almost every jurisdiction’s records monthly.

The most recent additions to the database include statewide searches for Nebraska and Iowa, and county searches for Los Angeles County, Calif. For a complete list of the jurisdictions available, visit http://www.rapsheets.com.

“Private investigators, screening firms and corporate human resource executives find the instant search capability delivered from our criminal records databases to be of great value in their businesses,” Schutt said.

All checks of criminal records on the Rapsheets.com site – whether for employment screening, tenant screening or other business purposes – are subject to provisions of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

For information about the records available, visit Rapsheets.com, email pschutt@rapsheets.com or phone Schutt at 901-523-1561, extension 111.
