The government's increased security measures at airports have caused long lines, short tempers, and absurdities such as searching Al Gore for weapons. Worse yet, these security methods do not reliably find concealed weapons. See the AP story of Sept. 4, 2002, "Reporters smuggle knives onto 14 flights during the Labor Day weekend." Through its lapel pin, We're ReadyToRoll.org gives committed passengers an effective role in flight security. Widespread wearing of the lapel pin will provide real safety by showing terrorists that they cannot succeed because many passengers will support the flight crew to subdue them. Wearing a pin means being ready to put yourself in danger by acting, without hesitation, against terrorists. Injury is possible, so not everyone is really ready to make such a commitment. When the shoe bomber, Richard Reed, was subdued on American Airlines in December, 2001, the leadership of a 250 lb. professional athlete activated other passengers. Athletes act instantly and risk injury in every game they play, but for ordinary people of ordinary size, it helps to know that many others are also pledged to act. Remember that on 9/11/01 there were 4 or 5 terrorists on each plane. This explains the importance of the lapel pin. Public commitment by a substantial number of people will give courage to the flight crew and other passengers. We're ReadyToRoll.org, a nonprofit corporation with no paid officers, directors, employees or consultants, was formed for a single purpose, to encourage passengers to commit to supporting the flight crew with vigilance and the instant use of physical force against terrorists. Inspiration came from Todd Beamer's last recorded words just before the passengers charged the terrorists on United flight 93 on 9/11/01, "Are you guys ready? Let's roll!" Passengers wearing the lapel pin are giving their answer in advance, "We're Ready To Roll!" Beyond the seed money supplied by its founders, We're ReadyToRoll.org is entirely supported by tax-deductible donations taken on its website. Those ordering the free pin are asked for a small donation, but, donation or not, a pin will be mailed to anyone willing to make the commitment to act. We're ReadyToRoll.org has no advertising budget. If this idea looks good to you, please spread the word. There may be thousands of terrorists, but there are millions of us! The goal is to distribute 10,000,000 lapel pins. If a substantial fraction of frequent fliers, members of the armed forces, police officers, fire fighters, professional and college athletes, corporate security personnel, etc. are wearing the pin that would make a very strong start. Reaching the 10,000,000 goal would virtually insure that more than 10% of the passengers on every flight would be publicly committed to support the flight crew with physical action against terrorists. With that kind of support, 9/11 will never happen again. For more information contact Dr.
