Flying Compass Travel Website Announces
Official Launch
Today, Flying Compass, a U.S. destination-focused travel website (www.flyingcompass.com), announced its official launch. The website is filled with useful information for travel planners who are researching their vacation or weekend getaways. Flying Compass features a growing number of articles on popular U.S. cities, such as Chicago, Charleston and San Antonio, and resort destinations such as Florida and North Carolina beaches, as well as travel photos and videos. Following each travel article, local contacts are included when available that provide the reader additional resources for information. Readers may also find a list of relevant books on topics like area history, recipes and notable residents, music with ties to that community and movies made at or about this particular destination. The site offers vacation ideas covering everything from family-friendly places to visit to how to tie the knot to the benefits of joining a ski club. Travel tips encompass how to navigate through Washington, D.C., traveling with food allergies, safety hints for hiking and understanding the Hawaiian alphabet, among others. Users can also purchase tickets for excursions, sightseeing and other activities. In the videos area, users are invited to download videos for viewing on any iPod® or MP3 player. Registered members can add their own travel experiences through words and images, and/or upload vacation photos. Additionally members have the ability to communicate directly with one another through a veiled communication mechanism. Anticipated to be an extremely popular tool is the Create a Travel Guide that allows users to select specific articles, travel experiences and directory listings (accommodations, attractions, dining, entertainment, events, golf, outdoor recreation or shopping) and create their own full-color personalized guide to take on the road. The Map Your Itinerary section displays the users selections from the directory listings, plots or identifies them on a map and then highlights the corresponding description and telephone number. This travel-ready planner coordinates helpful mapping/directional information in one convenient document. And for out-of-towners whose time limited, but still desire to see an area, the Zip-Away feature plans drive trips from a given location. Its also a great tool for local residents who want to get out-of-town or take a drive for the day. The free, easy-to-use website with a crisp, uncluttered look was developed by two hospitality industry veterans who fly under the names Chief Navigator and Navigator. Both desired to combine their marketing experience with hotels, attractions, restaurants, events and destination management organizations with some of the most current technology available. The site is supported by display advertising that appears throughout the website. Advertisers can choose to place their advertising within a specific country, state or city, select various travel topics or randomly appear throughout the website (run-of-site or ROS). Ad options include static formatted ads with logo and text or expanded (flyout) ads in static, flash or video formats. For more information visit,
