A benefit of the free download is that content from the RSS feed can be "seen" by the search engines. This means that a search engine will see "new and updated content" whenever they visit, which according to some ranking experts is a good thing! Another benefit is that the feed content can be easily cached on the user's web server, making access times much faster as the display is not reliant on the Magic RSS servers or the source RSS feed web server. On the other hand, the Javascript code is a little easier to handle for novices. Both display identical feeds. The scrolling feeds are somewhat customizable in terms of size and number of items shown. Magic RSS provides the standard clickable graphic to be displayed near a website's own RSS feed to allow a visitor to utilize the RSS feed either in the Magic RSS online Reader, or on their own website. Magic RSS also comes with a full-featured online RSS Reader. As well as being able to see ANY RSS feed in the RSS reader (not only those in the Magic RSS database) the Reader comes with a variety of viewing formats. Magic RSS is completely free apart with one exception: if you want to list your own RSS feed in the database, there is a $1 validation charge. This is to ensure that no feeds are added to the database without the owner's permission. Once listed, the RSS feed is available for syndicating via the Magic RSS service, and it is also listed in a searchable database users of the Online Reader service. Magic RSS offers a variety of features not found in other RSS Readers and syndicators.
