Despite
the popularity of e-mail and instant messaging for business communications,
fax remains a vital communications tool for businesses of all sizes. A
new web site, FaxZero.com, lets anyone
send faxes to anywhere in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada for
free.
By filling out a simple online form, users can fax any Microsoft Word file, PDF document, Excel workbook, or text file that's on their computer. The service allows users to send two free faxes each day, of up to three pages each. Faxes are usually delivered within minutes: once a fax is delivered, FaxZero.com notifies the sender with a confirmation e-mail message. The free service is supported by advertising: an advertisement appears on the cover page of free faxes. Users who would rather not have an ad on the cover page (for instance, if you're faxing a resume to a potential employer,) or who need to send more than three pages, can opt to send a Premium fax. For $1.79, FaxZero's Premium fax option lets users send up to 10 pages, with no cover page ad, and no two-fax-per-day limit. The site is created by Kevin Savetz, an expert in Internet faxing. In 1994, Kevin created the first edition of the FAQ "How Can I Send a Fax From the Internet?" which remains an important resource 12 years later. Kevin also created FaxPrices.com, a fax price comparison tool that helps users choose the best Internet faxing plan based on their usage levels; and FreeFaxCoverSheets.net, which offers more than 100 downloadable fax cover sheets.
