The second quarter at Favourite Website Awards (FWA) saw 2400+ websites nominated with 55 listed as winners. The three sites that will join the previous quarter's Site Of The Month winners to be judged for Site Of The Year 2002 are Looplabs, Who’s We Design Studios, and Lexus Minority Report.

April: Looplabs [http://www.looplabs.com/] An online Flash music mixer with all the bells and whistles you could want and the ability to save and load user mixes. This site was recently announced as the winner in the “Music” category at the Webby Awards 2002.

May: Who’s We Design Studios [http://www.whoswe.com/] making extensive use of Flash and 3d to win over potential clients and showcase their capabilities and portfolio.

June: Lexus Minority Report [http://www.lexus.com/minorityreport/] brings you an interactive experience allowing you to explore the world of Minority Report.

3 new judges joined the SOTY panel: Eric Jordan of 2Advanced Studios [http://www.2advanced.com/]; Joshua Davis of Praystation [http://www.praystation.com/]; Michael Cina of WeWorkForThem [http://www.weworkforthem.com/].

27 new interviews were published, including the three new judges mentioned above.

The FWA Directory was launched making it easier to browse the winners. The Directory is made up of ten sections, currently: Commercial; Design Studios; E-Commerce; Entertainment; Experimental; Fashion/Art; Personal/Portfolio; Photography; Promotional; Recreational.

Of note, in the Directory, is the Design Studios section, comprising 77 design studios from 21 different countries. The Directory currently features 202 sites, all previous FWA winners and all of the highest calibre, making this a very exclusive and well-vetted directory.

FWA was selected as a Project Cool Sighting on 2nd May and was recently listed in the Yahoo directory and subsequently mentioned on their “What’s New” page as a “New & Notable” site for 1st July [http://dir.yahoo.com/new/20020701.html] and they said “Favourite Website Awards - when it comes to Flash style, they have the newest in new.”. The UK editors named FWA as a Pick Of The Day for 2nd July in the Yahoo UK index [http://uk.dir.yahoo.com/new/20020702.html].

FWA is currently a non-profit project and is owned by Robert Ford whose previous work has been listed in the Macromedia UK Flash Showcase, and he was short listed for the Yell UK Web Awards 2000, Best Design Agency UK category. He is a judge for Webaward.org and is penciled in to judge for this year’s Yell UK Web Awards and next year’s Webby Awards.
