Travel Channel Launches Site for "5 TAKES Europe" Reality Show

Watch on TV and On TravelChannel.com as five "20-something" filmmakers are turned loose in Europe. Viewers and the five travelers will be able to interact via the website during their trip to share suggestions, up-to-date experiences and influence their journey.

http://travelchannel.com/5takes Five travelers equipped with video cameras…six European cities to experience …one website to be packed with the travelers video logs and viewers advice…one television show centering around this unique travel experience… …tune in to the Travel Channel on Saturday, July 23, at 10 PM (ET/PT) when 5 TAKES premieres.  This new series will air consecutive Saturdays from 10-11 PM (ET/PT) through Saturday, September 10.  The web site is live now.

Five young filmmakers will travel to Europe for the next two months, each with a $50 a day budget and an Eurorail pass, as a production team captures their overall adventure for 5 TAKES Europe.  But as fully trained shoot-edit travel journalists, they are also each equipped with Mini DV cameras and laptop editing facilities to produce independent short daily web logs (blogs) and frequent video logs (vlogs) of their experiences for the Travel Channel website http://travelchannel.com/5takes.  They are asked to journal their honest, intimate perspective on trends, tourist traps, the history, and culture, while ultimately capturing the essence of the cities they visit.

"This is a real interactive television event, and a huge leap forward from traditional programming," said Pat Younge, EVP & GM, Travel Channel.  "This series will present travel from the first-hand perspective of young travelers who have been given the freedom to explore a city and its culture however they choose, and bring those experiences and 'takes' on travel to air. Through the dynamic of the dedicated real-time
website they’re able to draw upon the knowledge and experience of literally millions of people who know these cities well, and through votes and polls that community will also influence their journey. It's truly is like nothing we've done before, and its a pioneering style of production we feel will work in a variety of travel-themed programs."

During their six-week tour to Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam, Prague, Venice, and Athens, the travel journalists will sometimes be alone and at other times together in groups, but they will always be together when traveling from city to city.

The filmmakers include Faythallegra Coleman, 26, of Brooklyn, New York; Derek Dodge, 21, of Windham, Maine; Brad Hasse, 23, of Phoenix, Arizona; Alexis Madden, 23, of Manhattan, New York; and Ronnie Miller, 23, of Syracuse, New York.

5 TAKES is produced by M3 Media, LLC for the Travel Channel.  For M3 Media, LLC, the CEO is Michael Rosenblum and the series producer is Patricia Chica.  The executive producer for the Travel Channel is Howard Lee.

The Travel Channel is the only television network devoted exclusively to travel entertainment.  Capturing the fascination, freedom and fun of travel, the Travel Channel delivers insightful stories from the world's most popular destinations and inspiring diversions.  It is available in more than 80 million homes and is a service of Discovery Networks, U.S., a unit of Discovery Communications, Inc.  Visit the Travel Channel on the Web at www.discovery.com and click on Travel Channel.
