First Personal Social History Site Launched at ThePeopleHistory.com
ThePeopleHistory.com is dedicated to preserving the memories from the current and Baby Boomer generation for future generations. The world has changed a lot in 60 years and this site hopes to preserve memories from before the Internet revolution, which has provided the tools for better sharing of experiences during major events and life experiences.
The site was created to preserve the thoughts, memories and social history of the ordinary man and woman in a similar way that an autobiography or biography does for the rich and famous. Some facts and information are included but this is mainly to help as a reminder of the events and the time period.
Site founder Steve Pearson commented on the launch, "Our memories are our most precious asset. The memories we amass over our lifetime from shortly after birth define who we are and how we live, and as we become older it can be harder to recall those memories to pass onto our children and grandchildren. ThePeopleHistory.com is dedicated to preserving these memories for all future generations."
Pearson continued, "One of the reasons the site was created was as a way of reminding others of some of the things and events we may well have forgotten and to attempt to document them on the Internet for others to read and remember, we must also remember as each generation passes on those memories may well be lost."
While doing research for The People History an older man told of his immigration into the United States through Ellis Island, he spoke little English at that time and had mixed emotions about the experience, part of it was thrilling and new but another part was scary and very confusing. Historians have done a great job of documenting the history of Ellis Island but those immigrants who came through in many thousands could provide an insight into the thoughts, and sensations they experienced. As we gain in maturity we are often nostalgic for earlier times and I hope that some of the stories and memories on The People History allow visitors to indulge in nostalgic memories.
The visitor does not need to register or have to include an e-mail address to leave a memory. All Memories are vetted prior to inclusion and because we do not wish to offend others that visit The People History site we will not include anything that others may find offensive.

Announcing your site?
"My experience with URLWire has been entirely positive. I received coverage (and links!) from key sites and in e-newsletters, one of which had over 500,000 readers. Resulting traffic has been more than impressive. URLwire demonstrated to me that it's the prime choice for announcing a web site." IncomingLinks.com
