The SEC filings are based on documents from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s EDGAR (Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis and Retrieval) system, which contains corporate filings submitted by more than 15,000 U.S. public companies as mandated by the SEC for full disclosure. 

In building the SEC filings feature, FinancialContent leveraged proprietary data decompression algorithms built into Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers -- allowing users to download what are often very lengthy documents up to 90% faster. With a user-friendly interface that supports both plain text and HTML documents, the filings offer a convenient print option and an enhanced display with line numbers so users can identify and reference sections within documents. 

Caplan explained that the company also is developing content modules based on the SEC filings specifically for enterprise information portals (EIPs) that service large corporations and institutions.
