Question of God Web Site Launches
.
Based on a popular book and Harvard course taught by Dr. Armand M. Nicholi, “The Question of God,” addresses life's most difficult questions through the lens of the lives and insights of Sigmund Freud, a life-long critic of religious belief, and C.S. Lewis, a celebrated Oxford don, literary critic and perhaps this century's most influential and popular proponent of faith based on reason.

Throughout the world, people grapple with many of the same questions: Why is there so much pain and suffering in the world? What does it mean to be happy?  Is there such a thing as evil? Does God really exist? A new web site called "The Question of God" contemplates these questions, with content based on Harvard professor and author Dr. Armand M. Nicholi.

Compelling visual re-creations, interviews with biographers and historians, as well as lively panel discussions fuel an intelligent and moving contemporary examination on the ultimate question of human existence: Does God really exist?

The journey continues on the “Question of God” Web site, where visitors are invited to explore:

Two Different Lives: Watch video clips of historical re-creations, organized as side-by-side chapters, which compare the life stories of Lewis and Freud. Also includes printable program transcripts.

Other Voices: A selection of writings/readings on related topics from a variety of thinkers, including Francis Collins, head of the Human Genome Project; stage director Peter Sellars; activist Simone Weil; philosopher William James; and comedian Steve Martin.

Nine Conversations: Watch a selection of the nine roundtable conversations from the series, read the complete transcripts, and add your own voice to the exchange in our Discussion Forums (open until mid-November).

In Their Own Words: Read a selection of expanded excerpts from the writings of Lewis and Freud.

Discussion Guide: Download the illustrated discussion guide for ideas on how to facilitate conversations on the series’ topics. The guide is divided into nine sections, corresponding to the nine panel discussions in the series. Where appropriate, suggested "answers" are also provided to help ground discussion group participants in the ideas and beliefs of Freud and Lewis.

Resources: Links to related online resources, plus book and other relevant materials.

Interviews: Hear from the producers and director, Dominique Lasseur and Catherine Tatge, and Harvard University professor, practicing psychiatrist and author of the book “The Question of God,” Dr. Armand Nicholi.

“The Question of God” is produced by Tatge-Lasseur Productions in association with WGBH and Walden Media. Director Catherine Tatge; Producer Dominique Lasseur; Executive Producers Mike Sullivan, Catherine Tatge, Doug Holladay.  The site's URL is http://www.pbs.org/questionofgod
