For the past two decades Paul Christiansen, founder of Big Bet Stocks (http://bigbetstocks.com), has been obsessed with trying to find a method that would help investors successfully solve that challenge.

The reason for the $25 million and $100 million thresholds is that Paul wants to capture Big Bets. Unlike poker, there is no bluffing in the world of investing. When these institutions are convinced that they’ve discovered tomorrow’s winning stocks they make Big Bets. 

To identify an unusual surge in trading volume Paul tracks the daily unusual volume data for both the NYSE and Nasdaq. Whenever a stock experiences a significant increase in daily trading volume accompanied by higher closing prices for at least three of the most recent five trading days, a Signal is generated. The details of unusual volume Signals are emailed to subscribers at the end of every business day.

Paul hastens to warn that the enigmatic nature of investing precludes the development of an unerring, systematic process for discovering tomorrow’s growth stocks.  Even savvy institutional investors make bad investments.

Nevertheless, historic data has convinced him that “it’s highly unlikely that any stock can become one of tomorrow’s winners without triggering a Signal either from savvy investors or from unusual trading activity – or both.”
