"Intel believes in the Cyberchase mission to make math come alive for children," said Wendy Hawkins, Intel's director of education. "We are pleased to have the opportunity to extend this mission by providing technology tools for children and their communities." In addition, the Grand Prize winner will also win a special appearance by the stars of Cyberchase. Harry (Matt Wilson) and Bianca (Bianca Marie DeGroat), the high-energy live-action stars of the Cyberchase For Real segments and Digit, the shows loveable cyberbird, will perform at the winners school or a local community center. To enter the Cyberchase Online Contest, fans can go to http://pbskids.org/cyberchase/contest/index.html from September 13 through October 11, 2004. (Entries must be postmarked by October 15.) Contestants must correctly solve 10 fun math puzzles based on five all-new Cyberchase episodes, premiering Thursdays starting September 16th (check local listings). Visitors to the contest page will be treated to a sneak peek at the new episodes. One grand-prize winner, plus ten first-prize winners, will win a notebook computer provided by Intel for themselves and take home great Cyberchase products, including the Scholastic book The Search for the Power Orb by Adam Rudman, a Cyberchase CD-ROM adventure from Brighter Child Interactive, LLC; and a newly-released Cyberchase home DVD from PBS Home Video and Paramount Home Entertainment and more. In addition, their schools or community organizations will each receive a notebook computer provided by Intel along with valuable Cyberchase educational resources, including videos, teachers guides, posters, and activity kits. There will also be 50 second prize winners who will be awarded exciting Cyberchase products for themselves and their school or community organization. "We are so thrilled to have Intel as a sponsor because we share a vision of using media and technology to enhance kids' learning," said Kristin Laskas Martin, Cyberchaseexecutive producer. "We see this contest as a great way to send kids back to school thinking about math in a fun way and encouraging them to become problem-solvers," added Sandra Sheppard, Cyberchase executive producer. Since its premiere in 2002, Cyberchase has used humor, action and mystery to show kids that math is fun and that everyone can be good at it. The award-winning series, targeting kids ages 7-11, features a team of curious characters who outwit and outsmart the ultimate bad guy Hacker (Christopher Lloyd) as he tries to take over Cyberspace. A co-production of Thirteen/WNET New York and Nelvana, Cyberchase airs nationally on PBS KIDS GO!, a new educational multimedia destination specifically created by, for and about school-age kids. Major funding for
Cyberchase is provided by the National Science Foundation, PBS and the
Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Additional funding is provided
by The Intel Foundation and The Volckhausen Family. Corporate funding
provided by Intel Corporation and Jif Peanut Butter. Jif is a registered
