You Can Save The World With Citizen Science at CitizenScienceCenter.com

It's so easy to be overwhelmed by everything that is wrong in the world. In 2010, there were 660,000 deaths from malaria. Dire predictions about climate change suggest that sea levels could rise enough to submerge both Los Angeles and London by 2100. Bees are dying, not by the thousands but by the millions.

But what can you do? You’re just one person, right? The good news is that you *can* do something.

It’s called citizen science, and it’s a way for ordinary people like you and me to do real, honest-to-goodness, help-answer-the-big-questions science.

This site, www.CitizenScienceCenter.com, introduces you to a world in which it is possible to go on a wildlife survey in a national park, install software on your computer to search for a cure for cancer, have your smartphone log the sound pollution in your city, transcribe ancient Greek scrolls, or sift through the dirt from a site where a mastodon died 11,000 years ago—even if you never finished high school.

"Citizen Science" refers to science conducted by average citizens, e.g., people who are not full- or part-time professional scientists but nevertheless have a keen interest in scientific inquiry.

CitizenScienceCenter.com has two goals. The first goal is that it will become a comprehensive resource for all things related to citizen science: books, papers, discussions, and so on, but especially project listings…categorized and tagged so you can quickly and easily find something you’re interested in.

The second goal is that it convinces you that you can, in fact, do science too, and that you go get your hands dirty and do some…and in so doing, that you connect with other people who share your passions.

Citizen science is fun, it's easy, and you can get started today. CitizenScienceCenter.com will show you how.

Is Your Site a Good Fit For Announcement on URLwire?
Since 1994 URLwire has helped quality web content gain attention, links, and publicity. URLwire is a fee-based announcment service originally established as a private service for librarians to inform them of high value Web content. URLwire now has thousands of editors, writers, reporters and social followers from all over the world. URLwire is not a mass service, and is not automated. The private email version is sent by founder Eric Ward, one at a time, to people who have requested it. URLwire also has millions of pageviews via the URLwire web site, and is published in multiple formats.
