Established in 1990, the Leather Apparel Association (LAA) was founded by 40 retailers, manufacturers, tanners, cleaners and suppliers from across the United States to unify the industry. Current membership includes over 100 companies, representing approximately 60% of America's retail dollar volume in leather apparel. The LAA generates higher sales, improves profitability and unites the industry under one recognizable moniker.

Said LAA Executive Director Richard Harrow, "Members of the Leather Apparel Association are at the very top of their profession, and also stand firmly behind their goods and services."  Harrow continued, "We hope consumers look for the Leather Apparel Association hangtag on leather garments they are considering purchasing. This tag assures them the item they are purchasing is they very best that America has
to offer. The LAA emblem can be found on members' apparel hangtags and on stickers in the windows of retail members'  establishments."

The LAA site was developed by Creative Marketing Plus, a New York-based advertising/communications agency working with national and international clients since 1983.
