|Surfboard Holding BV launches Startpage.com|
|There are billions of web pages on the internet. But 80% of the internet traffic is realized by only 20% of the websites. This 80/20 rule seems to implicate that there are websites which are very popular by really a lot of people. www.Startpage.com made a selection of the most visited and best websites on the US internet.|
With Startpage.com people do not have to remember all the URL’s for all different topics, but they can just remember one URL: startpage.com. All the links which are (gathered) selected are only at one page, and grouped by category. The links are very descriptive and are often linked to “deep” content. Which will help people find handy stuff with just one click instead of ten. With one click users can delete blocks which are not useful for them.
In the Netherlands a similar concept grew to the number one visited website in a few years. Startpage.com is focusing on the US market and hopes to achieve strong growth in the upcoming years. “Although we dream of a number 1 position in the US, we certainly think a top 25 position is doable within 3 years”, according to Stephan van der Velden, CEO of Surfboard Holding.
The domain name startpage.com was
acquired last year, together with the website Startingpage.com.
Startingpage.com will be integrated into the startpage.com in the near
future: “startpage.com is the best domain name for a startpage. “Everybody
sees the text “Make this your Startpage””. Says Stephan van der Velden),
and besides that, one URL is easier to market then two”.
