..
President Bush has asked all federal agencies to streamline communications with the public and improve interagency information sharing in order to enhance public security. Therefore, to provide better service in alerting the American people to unsafe, hazardous or defective products, six federal agencies with vastly different jurisdictions have joined together to create www.recalls.gov -- a "one stop shop" for U.S. Government recalls. The six government regulatory agencies participating in recalls.gov are: US Consumer Product Safety Commission, Food and Drug Administration, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, U.S Environmental Protection Agency, USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, and the Coast Guard. Recall categories include Consumer Products, Motor Vehicles, Boats, Food, Medicine, and Cosmetics. The site is searchable, and includes links, discussion, and background issues. - Nov 29, 2004
