Netfolk Personals hosts its first cyber wedding for a couple who have never met in person

http://www.netfolk.com/Netfolk Personals Web site will this Saturday host a Cyber Wedding, between Manuel (Manny) Vargas <mailto:anon_whitelion@netfolk.com> of Southern California and Darlene A'Hern <mailto:anon_smooch@netfolk.com> of Ontario, Canada. The honorary/token online exchange of vows will talk place on January 23rd at noon (Pacific time) in a private chat room on the Netfolk Personals Web Site at http://www.netfolk.com, where they first met one month ago. The ceremony will be officiated by Manny's brother, a licensed Minister in the State of California, with approximately one dozen guests in attendance. A public reception will follow, beginning at one o'clock PM (Pacific time). All are welcome to attend the online reception hosted by Netfolk Chat.

Manny and Darlene met on Netfolk on December 23rd, 1998. Manny, known to the regulars as WhiteLion or Leon, logged onto Netfolk Chat, and just a minute or so later, Darlene logged on to Netfolk for the first time, taking on the nickname of Smooch. Darlene requested assistance in the operation of the chat room, and Manny was quick to respond. Manny describes that first meeting: "Conversation between her and I began with incredible ease and a familiar warmth. As dialogue between us continued, the incredible magic between us grew rapidly. Within a couple of hours we had decided to move conversation to the telephone... I was charmed from the beginning." And now, after countless hours on the telephone, numerous exchanges of e-mails, ICQ notes and chats, virtual greeting cards, pictures, and even videos, Manny and Darlene plan not only to meet, but to marry as well.

Darlene will join Manny with her two children in California on March 20, to start a life together and make "real-world" wedding plans. They have not yet set an official date for the wedding, but anticipate that it will take place in late summer or early fall of 1999.
Why a cyber wedding on the Netfolk web site? Manny responds "Darlene and I truly felt that this event would be very romantic and meaningful to us, and quite fiitting, seeing as how we owe our meeting to Netfolk. Its uncrowded environment establishes a cozy spot unlike any other chat room that I have visited."

Stephan Spencer <mailto:sspencer@netconcepts.com>, president of Internet Concepts LLC, describes his Netfolk site as a "warm, intimate community of friendly people from around the world." Netfolk has been in existance since August 1996. The site includes chat rooms, browsing and searching of member profiles, and anonymous email. Netfolk boasts over eleven thousand registered members.

Netfolk is one of a number of sites offered by Internet Concepts as a free public service to the Internet community. Other sites include InnSite <http://www.innsite.com>, picked by Yahoo! Internet Life as the "Best Bed & Breakfast Directory of 1998"; InnCrawler <http://www.inncrawler.com>, a search engine of all B&B directories; and WritersNet <http://www.writers.net/>, a directory and online community of published writers, literary agents, publishers and editors. Internet Concepts' core business is developing Web sites for mid to large size companies and organizations, such as Birds Eye Frozen Vegetables <http://www.birdseye.com/>. Internet Concepts, in an effort to refocus its efforts on its core business, is currently seeking buyers for its Netfolk, InnSite, InnCrawler, and WritersNet web sites.
