LawStuff, Inc., the Chicago-based operator of the lawstuffusa.com Web site, and law.com, a leading Internet portal focused on legal information and services, have announced a merger.

"Lawstuffusa.com's e-commerce capabilities and presence represent the perfect complement to our news and information-based portal services," said Charlie Davis, co-founder of law.com. "Whether you're looking for a lawyer in Dallas, a legal textbook for a Boston law school course or the latest information on Y2K litigation, our site will speed and simplify your search." "No other legal Web organization offers the breadth or potential of our new company," said Jeff Pavone, president of LawStuff, Inc. "Together, we cover virtually every facet of the legal market. We intend to aggressively pursue our joint business strategy for growth and acquisitions to dominate this space." Pavone will head e-commerce efforts at the combined entity.

Law.com, which launched in January 1999, is the Web's fastest-growing legal portal site, connecting lawyers, legal professionals, law students, business people and consumers with legal information and services. Visitors to law.com can do research through law.com’s proprietary law guides, track breaking developments in the law, locate a lawyer in their state or region, or explore nationwide job openings in the legal industry.  LawStuff, Inc. has been serving the legal market for more than 10 years. Lawstuffusa.com and a soon-to-be released site serving the professional legal market, will comprise the world's largest online law bookstores, serving students, legal professionals and librarians. The sites provide 24x7 access to discounted legal textbooks, software, study guides, casebooks and reference works, with online search capabilities, one-click ordering and access to a comprehensive listing of complementary products.

This is a private Web-based version of Eric Ward's URLwire. URLwire is a low frequency E-mail news alert service which covers significant Web launches, events, and online happenings, and is sent only to writers, reporters, Web guide editors, and site reviewers who earn a living covering the high end of the Web. It is matched personally by me to your subject interests, not automated, and importantly, not annoying. Send your exact subject interests to: Eric@urlwire.com (Voice 423.637.2438).
