Women's World Cup Soccer Sites Deluged

Sites from FIFA, CNN/SI, ESPN and others handle traffic loads 20 times higher than normal

The victory this past Saturday by the USA's Women' World Cup Soccer team has also been a victory of sorts for Web sites dedicated to covering the team.  Of the ten or so sites listed at Yahoo, here are the top picks to visit to continue the post-victory euphoria.

The FIFA site (Above) has detailed post game photos and interviews, plus a full text play-by-play from the game.

The FIFA site (see photo, left) has detailed post game photos and interviews, plus a full text play-by-play from the game. CNN/SI currently has a site with an interview with players where they discuss the viability of a pro women's soccer league, as well as a diary kept by team member Kristine Lilly during the tournament.

ESPN, not to be outdone, features articles about how Brandi Chastain and her U.S. teammates are seeing a surge of marketing interest that experts had predicted if the team won the title, and how after winning the World Cup, several U.S. national team members will be on college pitches this fall.

The Women's World Cup final was the most-watched soccer game in the history of U.S. television.  Other soccer sites about the cup can be found at Yahoo's section dedicated to the cup.
