On September 13th, the Discovery Channel School  site launches a new season of programming on Assignment Discovery, the daily hour of programming for grades 7-12.

In the new Learning Adventures area, you can journey back to the time when Woolly Mammoths roamed the earth. Take the “Seven Steppes to a Woollier Mammoth” challenge – and learn how Woolly evolved and eventually became extinct.

Soon, the site will be looking for the world’s smartest pet, and exploring cool science. Keep an eye out for more details. On September 13th, the site launches a new season of programming on Assignment Discovery, the daily hour of programming for grades 7-12. Fall 1999 programming is organized into theme weeks on the following topics – Ancient Rome, Life in the 21st Century, Water, Animal Kingdom and Intimate Universe.

On October 1st, the new season of TLC Elementary School programming begins, a weekly half-hour especially for grades K-6. This year’s programming topics are Ants, Bodies on the Mend, Astronomy and Heroes of American History.

You can tape all programs FREE on Cable in the Classroom.

The site has new lesson plans, complete with vocabulary, activities and topic-related links to accompany each program. In addition, it hosts online discussions throughout the year where you can find innovative teacher ideas and share your creative solutions.
