Well Known Net Writers Launch NetBits E-Pub

NetBITS is the Internet-centric sister publication to award-winning TidBITS

TidBITS Electronic Publishing today unveiled a new Internet publication, NetBITS, as the Internet-centric sister publication to award-winning TidBITS, one of the largest, original, purely electronic publications on the Internet. Free to subscribers, NetBITS is available today at < http://www.netbits.net/ > and will expand on the practical, informative, high-credibility editorial perspective TidBITS has built for the Macintosh-specific market to include news and information about the Internet as a whole. NetBITS will succinctly present information needed by anyone who spends significant amounts of time on the Internet whether for professional or personal reasons.

NetBITS will be driven by the editorial vision of Internet expert Glenn Fleishman, who started one of the first Web hosting companies; has served as a senior manager at Amazon.com; and has written extensively in the past about important Internet issues for InfoWorld, NetGuide, Adobe Magazine, and Web Developer magazine. "With hundreds of TidBITS issues under our belt, we've already proven that publishing on the Internet can be profitable over the long term," explained Adam Engst, publisher of NetBITS and TidBITS. "NetBITS has been percolating in the backs of our minds for some time now. Glenn's expertise and talent are poised to make it an engaging reality."

Practical Internet Information...

While other publications focus on perishable news items, enormous product round-ups, or highly technical information of interest only to developers, NetBITS aims to meet the practical informational needs of all Internet users who spend significant amounts of time on the Internet for personal or professional reasons. Much like TidBITS, NetBITS will analyze the news, reporting on only Internet announcements and issues that actually affect users, and will provide practical articles on a wide range of pertinent topics.

Articles planned for early issues include realistic advice parents and teachers can give kids who use the Internet; hidden features in Eudora for Windows and Macintosh; a look at legal issues on the Internet beyond pornography and cryptography; and a review of the @Home Internet cable network trials. Regular features will include a Q & A column, letters to the editor, and detailed reviews of Web sites that offer more than light entertainment value.

NetBITS is published on the Web every Thursday evening (PST) at <http://www.netbits.net/> and simultaneously distributed via email, giving readers the full week's worth of news and context. All back issues of NetBITS will be archived for easy reference via a search engine. Email subscribers can choose between simple ASCII text or an HTML-enhanced version. To subscribe to NetBITS in ASCII text, simply send email to <netbits-on@netbits.net>. To subscribe to NetBITS in HTML-enhanced text, send email to <netbits-html-on@netbits.net>. No specific subject or body is necessary.
